My Story
My career has been shaped by a diverse background as a military veteran and in both education and psychology. I began my career in the U.S. Air Force, then transitioned into education, working in various teaching roles from 2009 to 2020. This journey has given me a wealth of experience in special education, intervention, and general education. In 2016, I became certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), which further fueled my passion for working with children and adolescents facing behavioral challenges, particularly those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
I furthered my education by earning a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Grand Canyon University. In 2020, I transitioned into psychometry, where I developed my skills as a master’s level psychometrist, administering and interpreting psychological assessments to evaluate cognitive abilities, emotional functioning, and personality traits for individuals of all ages. I am pursuing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from California Southern University and expect to graduate in 2027, where I am focusing my dissertation topic on family dynamics through Family Systems Theory, aiming to explore how autism affects not just the diagnosed child but the entire family unit. This approach will contribute to a more holistic understanding of autism’s impact, paving the way for family-centered interventions considering cultural and socioeconomic factors.
Experience and Expertise
With my experience working with children, adolescents, and groups, I use an integrative therapeutic approach that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy, as well as integrating Play Therapy and Art Therapy techniques. This diverse blend enables me to address various individual needs and adapt the therapeutic process to each person’s unique circumstances, ensuring more effective and personalized outcomes.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and getting lost in a good book.
